The Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce & Industry today launched the 2017 PNG International Business Summit, to be held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre over two days on August 22-23.
The primary theme of the Summit is Port Moresby: Future City. On launching the summit David Conn, CEO of the POMCCI said that developments in our capital city, Port Moresby ultimately determine the future of the rest of Papua New Guinea.
Mr Conn said: “The argument that development only happens in Port Moresby is not valid, as the last five years has seen unprecedented development of infrastructure and business right throughout our country.”
He added: “However, as a capital city, Port Moresby must lead the way in attracting investors and creating a future city that has its rightful place in the booming South-East Asia region. So this is our primary focus.”
“We have chosen to conduct the Summit in Brisbane as it puts us right in touch with developers and investors from all around the region.”
“As always we are grateful for the support of our Major Sponsor BSP. We also welcome partners such as Kumul Consolidated Holdings and the NCDC.”
The Summit has been an annual event on the calendar of the Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce for five years and is expected to be one of the first engagements for the newly-elected Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea.
As well, the 2017 Summit will feature a keynote address by Mr Simon Baptist, Global Chief Economist; Managing Director of the Economist Intelligence Unit, Asia.
In launching the 2017 Summit the POMCCI also launched the website for the event. The website will run in conjunction with a Facebook page that already has over 5,000 followers.
Prospective delegates are encouraged to register via the website and follow the event on Facebook for regular updates on Summit speakers, the Summit Gala Dinner, the Summit Expo and the latest news.
