The Papua New Guinea (PNG) International Business Summit committee has announced a number of guest speakers for the Port Moresby Future City event.
The Summit is set to showcase Port Moresby as the city of focus for business and investment opportunities in PNG to the international business community come 22nd to 23rd August, 2017, in Brisbane, Australia
The major sponsor of the Summit is once again by the Bank South Pacific (BSP) with a commitment of over K60,000, the Business Summit seeks to market PNG as an ideal business partner in various sectors including; petroleum, mining, agriculture, business and finance.
BSP has been the major sponsor of the event since 2010.
Mr Peter Beswick, Group General Manager, Corporate Banking will make a presentation on Day 1 on behalf of the Bank of South Pacific Limited.
Another of the highlights of the Summit is a keynote address by Dr Simon Baptist, Global Chief Economist; Managing Director of the Economist Intelligence Unit, Asia.
The Economist Intelligence Unit will also host two panel discussions on Day 1 of the Summit.
The National Capital District Commission (NCDC) has also shown its support of the Summit and has
committed as a Platinum Sponsor of the event.
Mr Ravu Frank, Senior Design Engineer, NCDC will be one of the many guest speakers at the Summit.
His presentation will cover important developments in Port Moresby, including the Ela Beach project.
The presentation will also feature how the projects can create new jobs and a multiplier effect on the city economy, the benefits of which will flow through to the greater PNG economy. The presentation will be co-produced by
Day 2 of the Summit will feature special guest host Kathy Novak.
Kathy Novak is a correspondent and presenter who has worked in newsrooms around the world for the past 15 years. Most recently, she has been reporting from Seoul, South Korea for CNN and Al Jazeera English, covering everything from North Korea to the latest K-Pop dance trend.
Kathy was previously a presenter and reporter for Australia’s SBS World News and covered the last election in Papua New Guinea, travelling around the country from Tari and Goroka to Wewak and sitting down for interviews with Prime Minister Peter O’Neill.
Day 2 of the Summit will also see an address by Charles Lepani, Director-General, APEC PNG Coordination Authority; as well as presentation by David Morris, Chief Representative, Pacific Islands Forum and Trade Commissioner, Pacific Islands Trade & Invest.
David Morris will be speaking on the importance to PNG and the region of the “one belt, one road” initiative that is providing a platform for China trade with the world.
Another Day 2 highlight is a presentation on the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games by Mark Peters, Chief Executive Officer, Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation (GOLDOC).
